Find the Secrets Behind the Kitchen Doors with the book, “Serving Life!”

This book is not just for those in the hospitality industry. It’s for anyone who loves a good story of resilience and redemption.

Serving Life: Behind Bars, Kitchens, and Hospitality

My book, “Serving Life,” is a trip through the highs and lows of life behind the scenes, not just another book about the hospitality industry. I’ve put my heart and soul into this story, from my beginnings as a fry cook through my problems with dyslexia and money to my development into an experienced leader in the industry. Every chapter offers a peek inside the high-stress kitchens, the friendly bar atmosphere, and the difficulties we encounter—including the darker aspects of addiction and mental health. My book provides an honest look at the grit and glory that characterize our industry while honoring the unacknowledged heroes of hospitality. I hope you will relate to my stories and better understand the hospitality industry.

Who am I?
Meet Justin Michal Morales

Hi there! After spending over three decades engaged in the vibrant yet challenging world of hospitality, I’m excited to share my journey with you through my book, “Serving Life: Behind Bars, Kitchens, and Hospitality.” This website is your portal into my life and work and the incredible stories from the industry I love.

I started my career in hospitality at the age of 17. After overcoming dyslexia, financial struggles, and a traumatic upbringing, I found my passion in chaotic, creative kitchens and bars. My journey took me from the Bronx to England and through Connecticut’s finest institutions. I’m proud to be the general Manager of Fire by Forge in Hartford, CT, a social enterprise restaurant that trains and employs people with barriers to employment.
